Why art? celebrates some of the most vital voices in art – those of young artists and creators. They bring innovative perspectives that open minds to new artistic possibilities, give thought-provoking criticisms that challenge the world to be better, and expand the ways that art can connect us all. Featuring the Gallery’s Youth Collective, a group of 16–25-year-old art aficionados whose regular event series of workshops, performances and artist talks has been on hold since lockdown.
Here, they come together from Gadigal, Darug, Ku-ring-gai and Bidjigal Country in a #PassThePaperChallenge, to show how they’re staying connected and answer the crucial question – ‘Why art?’
